During a trip to Mauritius, a visit to the Black River Gorges National Park and the natural wonders it harbors is something to do without hesitation. This natural area of 67.54 km² is home to an endemic fauna and flora to be discovered during hikes, guided or by yourself. Indeed, many trails run through the Black River Gorges National Park, offering hiking routes for all levels! On your way, you may come across the Trochetia Boutoniana, the shrub in which the national floral emblem of Mauritius, the "boucle d'oreille", blooms, or even birds living only on the island like the pink pigeon.

Among the must-see things in the Black River Gorges National Park, you can find different viewpoints such as the Macchabee or the Morne, offering incredible panoramas on the gorges and the surroundings of the park, as well as the highest point of Mauritius at 828 meters, the Piton de la Petite Rivière Noire. The waterfalls are also important points of interest in the park, such as the impressive Alexandra Falls, or, located in the north of the park, the famous Tamarin Falls, also known as the 7 waterfalls. A first time canyoning was a bit scary, though exciting… because you’re fully secured it’s actually less scary then you might think upfront :-)

Les cascades sont tres belles et cette randonnee nous a permis de decouvrir une autre facette de cette ile sublime. La balade est assez physique, de bonnes chaussures sont absolument necessaires.
